It is not a big problem if you have a tasty candy bar once in a while as long as you don’t create a habit of eating candy bars regularly because they are packed with huge amounts of sugar.

However, it is good to point out that there are many other foods that look healthy at first glance, but they actually contain higher amounts of sugar found in candy bars. A regular-sized chocolate candy bar contains 27 grams of sugar and these foods have significantly more sugar.

Foods That Have More Sugar than a Candy Bar

1. PowerBar Performance Energy bar in Citrus Burst

Many people are attracted by the presence of citrus in this energy bar. Although citrus is certainly a healthy ingredient, these bars also have 29 grams of sugar. The good news is that you can still enjoy the tasty PowerBar products, but search for an option that is low on sugar.

2. Jamba Juice Banana Berry Smoothie

A small smoothie like this comes with amazing 60 grams of sugar. If you want to reduce the amount of sugar make lighter version although you’ll still get a drink that has 32 grams of sugar.

3. Starbucks Greek Yogurt with Honey Parfait

You are looking at another seemingly healthy food that contains lots of sugar. It has 30 grams of sugar, so it might be a better idea to eat some of Starbucks sandwiches instead. They are packed with proteins and low on sugar.

4. Grape juice

Grape juice is an excellent source of nutrients, but the high level of sugar cannot be ignored. One eight-ounce glass comes with 36 grams of sugar.

5. Craisins

Cranberries are not very sweet in their natural form and this is the reason why many manufacturers add sugar to make them sweeter. A quarter of a cup of Craisins comes with about 29 grams of sugar.

6. Fat-free flavored yogurt

While it is very helpful to eat foods that don’t contain fat, you should know that manufacturers usually add other ingredients to compensate this “loss”. A regular fat-free flavored yogurt (vanilla for example) contains 27 grams of sugar per pot.

7. Tonic water

Tonic water is a great drink for those who want to refresh themselves during a hot summer day, but the truth is that they are similar to regular soda – they have high amounts of sugar. A standard can of Schweppes contains 32 grams of sugar.

8. Naked Juice’s Green Machine

Although the sugars found in this juice come from the fruits and fruit juices found in it, the 53 grams of sugar per bottle is not something that you should ignore. You should definitely avoid drinking this juice regularly.

9. Dried fruit

Dried fruit is known for their health benefits. However, did you know that one cup of raisins comes with 86 grams of sugar? This is a huge amount of sugar even if we are talking about natural sugar.

10. Vitamin water

As the name suggests this enriched water is packed with vitamins. However, fruit-flavored Vitamin Water found in stores contains 31 grams of sugar which is certainly more than the amount found in one candy bar. Avoid these drinks or drink them gradually and only once in a while. They don’t come with the fiber which is part of every fruit and fruit juice.
