Twitching eyes is a symptom of muscle spasms that is often underestimated. However, you have to be careful because some studies suggest that twitching eyes can be a symptom of some serious health problems.

Cause

Most experts concluded that twitching eyes can be caused by stress, fatigue, and excessive intake of caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco.

Twitching the eye is also associated with irritation of the eye membrane.

The twitching eye is often associated with neurological disorders such as blepharospasm and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), better known as Lou Gehrig disease.

Based on some data, it can be concluded that blepharospasm has 2000 new cases each year in the United States.

Blepharospasm symptoms are excessive sensitivity to the sun and of course the twitching eye! In some cases, the twitching eyes can take up to several hours.

You should be wary if you experience some of the following symptoms:

Your eye twitches until more than a weekYour eyelids close completelySeizures on the faceDrooping eyelidsSwelling eye

If you have some of the above symptoms then you should consult a neurologist. If a neurologist says that you are free from a nervous breakdown, then you need to improve your lifestyle, by reducing caffeine, alcohol, tobacco.
