The slogan of the popular Cheetos brand couldn’t be more accurate – “Dangerously cheesy.” Flamin’ Hot Cheetos are so dangerous that are sending kids to ER. Doctors advise people not to let their kids or themselves eat this hot, cheesy snack.
If you overindulge in Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, you can literally end up in the hospital from the nasty side effects.
As Dr. Berchelmann from St. Louis Children’s Hospital says, this popular snack contains just the right amount of saturated fats, salt, and sugar that make it extremely addicting.
Even those with good self-control try hard to stop eating and put the Cheetos bag away. On the other hand, kids have less or even no self-control, so they usually finish eating the whole bag.
The main reason why this snack is super unhealthy is not just its huge amounts of fat or that consuming lots of processed foods is bad for your health. It is the presence of all those red hot spices which can cause a lot of damage to your stomach.
The spices in this hot snack can stick along your food pipe, stomach, duodenum, and small intestine, or in other words along your entire gastrointestinal tract. The emergency medicine doctor in New York Dr. Glatter explains that the red peppers and spice in Flamin’ Hot Cheetos can cause upper abdominal and chest pain.
These spices can further worsen the condition of those with a history of acid reflux or heartburn.
Consuming large amounts of this popular snack can color the stool red due to the red dye it contains, especially in kids. When parents see their kid’s stool is red, they assume it is blood so they go to the ER out of panic.
Even though we don’t say you have to panic about having a red stool, but it takes a lot of food dye to change the stool’s color. This means you have eaten too many bags of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Remember this the next time you open a bag of this spicy snack. Your body will thank you for not eating the entire bag.
